| - I hate to write bad reviews, but have to do it based on recent experiences with Arcadia Tavern. We live within walking distance of the Tavern. We visit on average 2-3x month, typically more during Arcadia Little League season, after games and practices, as we would typically go with our kids and several other families. They had a great kids play area on the southwest corner of the restaurant. The kids area was a driving force for many families with young kids looking for a family friendly restaurant in the Arcadia area.
To comply with ADA regulations ownership needed to add ADA compliant restrooms, which is completely understandable, and the only location available was the kids area - totally get this and respect ownerships position to make this change to be in compliance. My issue with the restaurant is their extremely negative response to those long standing customers who voiced their opinion about the loss of the kids area.
The business website states "Our focus remains on being a neighborhood family friendly establishment and we are working to better improve the overall experience and service for the community we serve." In a recent Facebook thread, ownership stated that families with kids who cant sit quietly at a table should visit Dave & Busters or Chuck e Cheese, rather than visit the Tavern as it is a "restaurant bar, not a play date." Point taken and we will gladly take our business elsewhere. Note that the kids area was a 10 foot x 10 foot area in the back corner of the restaurant. As the majority of people who sat in this section were families it will be interesting to see the transition into who now sits there.
Bummer, as we really enjoyed going to Arcadia Tavern over the past several years. With an average bill for our family alone of $60 to $70, multiplied by the 3-4 other families with us, equating to a total turn of $200 to $300 per visit, this equates to a decent amount of revenue over the course of a year (just for our group alone). Several other families in the neighborhood have stated they will not be visiting the Tavern based on their response. So sad to see.
Ownership states that a future west side patio extension will likely include an outside play area for kids. That is good to hear, but unfortunately the majority of family customers will have likely moved on to a different establishment and likely wont give the Tavern a second chance. Too bad.
