| - I moved to Las Vegas six years ago to be a dealer, but having no experience, and no money for schooling, I got a regular job. Ugh. About 5 months ago, I realized I absolutely hated my job (took a while) and was unhappy every day when I woke up, dreading the day ahead. Wait a minute! I came out here to deal! So off to the internet, to see what dealing schools were out there. I went to a couple of the schools. The first was eh! The second one I walked into, I instantly felt uncomfortable. No one approached me. All I saw were students standing around not looking too happy, most not dealing, not playing, with just a couple of teachers. I turned around and left. Third on my list was CEG Dealer School. Whoever said the third time's a charm wasn't kidding! Students looked up and smiled at me as I walked in the door. One girl waved from the baccarat table. I was immediately approached and greeted by Alex Kim - Owner/Instructor Extraordinaire, who was also smiling as he asked how he could help me. I think I yelled with excitement, "I want to deal!" He sat me down, explained the classes, how things worked, the cost, which was extremely reasonable, considering all it includes: excellent, patient instructors, super flexible hours, beautiful tables and equipment for blackjack, baccarat, craps, roulette... Alex has also made instruction manuals for each game that are comprehensive, yet easy to understand, so you can keep learning and practicing at home. I signed up, and started two days later. Most of the instructors are current or previous dealers, so not only do you get great up to date instruction on how to deal the games, you are also provided insight and suggestions coming from their own personal experiences, like how to deal with rude or unhappy guests, ways to shuffle and pitch cards with finesse, the different ways each casino operates, things you should and shouldn't say at the table while dealing, how to interact with the pit bosses, so much good stuff! All of the students help each other, as well, as we are all enjoying school together. I have learned blackjack and roulette, and am learning craps (super fun!) and next is baccarat. As soon as Alex feels you are ready, he lets you know what openings are available at casinos closest to where you live, (convenient) and suggests you apply. He advises you on what type of questions they ask at the interview, and what to expect at your audition, so you are prepared, and off you go! I applied, and got an interview. Alex had me come into the school a couple of hours before my audition, for final practicing and tips, with the great suggest to RELAX! I did it, got called back, and was hired at Gold Coast! Woo hoo! I get my picture on the CEG Wall of Fame! So many students have gotten jobs at various casinos around town during the time I've been there. This shows me that the school is doing it right, as students are consistently getting hired. Playing games and getting paid for it? You can't beat it! Enrolling in CEG is definitely one of the best decisions I have ever made. I highly recommend this school.
