  • I only ever review anything if it's fantastic or awful. If I could give this one NEGATIVE amount of stars, I would. Worst customer experience in years. This is the whole story, but part two is more important. I went there a couple months ago, because I needed my roots redone, and they have Pravana products and my normal hair stylist in another city uses them. When I called in, they asked me to send photos so they could consult a hairdresser and see if it would be done easily enough, which I did. On the phone she told me it would be $72. When I got there, I was helped by an older lady with a Slavic accent. She put the product in my hair, which burnt so severely I was terrified it was going to fry my hair off. My hair is naturally dark and it's bleached a shade of blonde, which I've been doing a while, so I'm no stranger to this process and have never experienced any pain. I almost couldn't take it and had to ask her to remove the bleach, but it subsided enough to be tolerable pain after a few minutes. After she bleached it, she informed me they were going to use a toner (and NOT the Pravana color that was the whole reason I chose this place), and I complained, confused. So instead she did it the way I anticipated, with the Pravana color, but then when it was almost finished, informed me it would be $180. $180 for roots!!!! I almost started crying in frustration. Especially after how much it hurt and already being worried she ruined my hair. When I asked why the price more than doubled when I was clear when booking the appointment what I was asking for, she extremely arrogantly said, "Do you know WHO I AM??! I'm a MASTER stylist." I had to stifle a snort. I complained that they can't tell me one price when I was crystal clear about what I was asking for, and then charge me more than double when it was basically done - and so she gave me the original price. I leave that place and as I'm going she says something about "next time" which makes me think she really is delusional, because I figure I'm definitely never goin back. Fast forward 2 months. I need my roots done again and I'm back in Calgary, and as much as I don't wanna go back to this place, my hair didn't fall out from last time and I figure they have a TON of stylists and the chances someone will be free are high, and I'm unlikely to get the same arrogant stylist. So, I decide to go in there and ask if there's anyone available to do my roots - and this time I'm fine with doing just a toner, not the pravana color, cause there is no universe in which I'm paying $180 for roots. Receptionist says someone is available, and tells me (unprompted, though I was going to ask), that the cost will be $82. I say "okay", and the lady comes out. And it's the same one. I immediately think, ".... ugh. Oh god.... Alright..." and go to the back where she seats me and puts an apron on me, and before she gets started, I tell her we don't need to do the color this time. She tells me it's going to be $125. "No. Nope. Not again. You guys cannot tell people the price is one thing and then just decide to charge them 50-200% more." She keeps trying to tell me that's the price, even with only the toner, and I'm removing the apron and standing up. I go up to reception, and wait for the girl who told me $82 to resurface while the irritating stylist sits there yapping at me. Eventually she comes back, and the stylist is still yapping over top of me to the point I have to say, "I'm done speaking with you." and look back at the receptionist. I tell her, "You guys have a communication problem." Arrogant hairdresser interrupts with an indignant snort, "WE don't have a problem, WE are fine." I ignore her, maintaining eye contact with the receptionist (that's what Cesar Millan would do, right?) and say, "Look, this has happened twice now. I asked how much to do my roots, you told me $82 and I get back there and she says its $125. Last time you guys told me $72 and she wanted $180." Receptionist (actually seemed nice, and I felt bad for her), "Sorry, that's what I was told it was." Arrogant hairdresser interrupts again, "SHE doesn't know. Only stylist can say after we consult you." I say, "Well, then you shouldn't be telling people a price at all - you should be saying you don't know and that the stylist will give you a quote when they see you. You can't tell your customers a price and charge them another. You have a communication problem." Arrogant stylist, "WE DON'T have a problem. YOU don't understand how it works. It's only $50 more anyway." Me, "Yeah, well, it's not YOUR $50, is it, so why would you care? Look. I don't give a fuck if you fix your problem or not. I'm never coming back here anyway." ("OooOooOooOhhh, she's mad." I hear the arrogant stylist chirp with a laugh as I walk out the door.) So giant GFY to that lady. ... "Do you know who I am?" ... lol, really? Is hairdressing up there with brain surgery now? Get over yourself. Couldn't PAY me to go back there.
