rev:text	While clubbing has never really been my thing, it's different when it's in Vegas. And by different, I mean better - better venues, better music, prettier girls...yeah, definitely better. Even if it means having to deal with the crowds and paying ridiculous prices for cover and drinks. Which made it an easy choice to hit up my conference's party at Hakkasan. Not to mention the free entry, free food, and free drinks, of course... Since this wasn't a typical trip to Hakkasan, my review might be a little more generous and forgiving than most (at least, based on the reviews I've read). In addition to our freebies, the club also opened a few hours earlier for conventioneers, so it was great how it wasn't all that packed. At the same time, the crowd was about twice as old as what you'd expect and not exactly dressed to the nines (dress code wasn't enforced until 10pm). As a venue though, Hakkasan is pretty nice, though I agree that the layout can seem confusing after you've had a few drinks. In total, there are three floors, but most of the crowd gravitates towards the top two levels (the dance floor, tables, and three bars are on the main level; the upstairs level has more booths and a couple of bars). That's not to say the bottom level sucks; it's just more like a lounge than a club. Even though our night started off with "dinner" (there were a bunch of buffet-style stations everywhere), I won't bother mentioning the food (it was fine, nothing special). As for drinks though, while I can't comment on how pricey they were, I thought they were surprisingly stiff, especially considering they were free. Still, the best part of Hakkasan for me was the music - no guest DJ for our event, but I thought the resident DJ did a pretty solid job! All in all, while I had a fun (albeit abbreviated) time at Hakkasan, it's hard to say where they rank among Vegas clubs for me. They definitely can't compare to my favorite (XS is still king for me), but I'd put them up there with the likes of Tao. At the very least, it doesn't require a trip to the far end of The Strip. Almost for that reason alone, Hakkasan isn't too shabby!
