| - Before I give my review, I must thank my friend Elaine for first telling me about this place back in the Summer of 2014.
I'm a huge movie buff, my friends call me 'The Human IMDB'. If there's a question about a movie someone needs answered, I'm usually the man they come to! Growing up, I was always surrounded by movies. Some kids learn to ride a tricycle at age 3, I learned how to fully operate a VCR.
Growing up in Wilmington, Delaware, I had always had the pleasure of visiting various video stores both chains and independently owned. Movies & Candy is that little slice of Heaven that gives me an opportunity to enjoy the independent 'Mom and Pop' video store on a daily basis here in Nevada. Trevor Layne is like the friend I would've hung out with in high school to just "come over and watch movies and talk about them..." Like me, he has a wide variety of eclectic tastes and this shows in his vast collection of both DVD and BluRays. Whether contemporary readily available titles you'll find on Netflix or at Redbox, to hard to find out of print titles some of which he has available as VHS to DVD transfers, AND THAT'S OKAY BY ME!
Trevor has allowed me to enjoy movies that I'd been searching for over a good 10 years! I consider myself part of the Quentin Tarantino/Russ Meyer/Roger Corman school of film, so I have very odd tastes; from Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill! to Ilsa She Wolf Of The SS to Hollywood Boulevard to Beneath the Valley of the Ultravixens!
This is not your average video store that you have visited in the past like Blockbuster or Hollywood Video, this is the place to find treasures of the cinematic past and beyond! Trevor always has time to chat and continues to enthrall me with what he's currently watching and he is always giving me great title suggestions to watch!
Recently he informed me of his hopes to open another store close to Summerlin where I live! I'd love for a 2nd store as it can be quite a drive from Summerlin all the way to Eastern and St. Rose Parkway. But one thing's definite, I'll always be a loyal renter at Movies & Candy!
Keep up the great work, Trevor!
