| - Thank you, Yelp, for delivering this little gem to my inbox for when the donut craving strikes! I decided to check out this place on the way into work today and I am incredibly glad that I did.
It is such a cute little shop, welcoming and quaint. The woman helping us was super kind, friendly, and helpful. My friend and I tried the cinnamon crumble donut, the blueberry cake, and the peanut butter and jelly.
The cinnamon crunch & peanut butter and jelly donuts are both yeast donuts, and they are the lightest, fluffiest, most tender donuts I've ever had- and I feel like I've had a good number of donuts in my day. The best feeling is eating a donut and not feeling weighed down by the grease and density of a carb overload. These donuts deliver just that. The cinnamon wasn't overwhelming, nor was the donut overly sweet. The peanut butter and jelly is a little more decadent, boasting a layer of chocolate glaze, stripes of peanut butter, and a dollop of peanut butter and jelly in the middle. I ate about half for my post-lunch dessert and it was delicious. Again, not too sweet and not too heavy- just right.
The blueberry cake was very flavorful, not too dense, and had a good crunch from the crisp edges. You know how some cake donuts are perfectly round and have no edges? These have a bit of an edge, which adds a nice textural change. This was sweeter than the other two that we tried, but still held the fine balance of sweet and flavor.
I also got a hot coffee. I didn't pay attention to what the brand of the coffee was, but it was delicious and something I hadn't seen before. There was a good variety of regular roasts (medium, medium dark, and light) as well as flavored- vanilla nut and blueberry. Being adventurous, I mixed the light, vanilla nut, and blueberry, and it was delicious. I'm usually not a fan of overly flavored coffee as I find it to be too artificial, but these were well balanced and did not taste artificial.
We got 3 donuts and a coffee for 6 dollars. That's not bad at all, considering the quality of the product and that one of them was a fancy donut!
Overall I would definitely come back! It's dangerous that they are open during my work commute... the detour is well worth it! I can't wait to drag more people here with me so I can make my way through the flavor list :)
