| - A standout in an uncrowded SE Cleveland winery landscape. Sapphire Creak wowed us and delivered on our expectations.
Above all else, Sapphire Creek is a visual tour de force, with a clean modern architecture and landscaping design that will be the centerpiece of many brides' day. It's located in an industrial park, and once you pass by the odd setting, you settle in to the comfortable setting. They do "complimentary" valet all the time, every day, so if that isn't your thing, be warned.
The wine: Sapphire Creek promotes their own wines, and her and I enjoyed our Chardonnay and Cabernet. The wine selection isn't huge, and they more than likely private label from another vineyard or vineyards.
As for the food, the cheese and charcuterie plate was of ample size, with a good selection and variety and was at the price I would expect. The flatbread was more like a pizza without tomato sauce, and honestly, I didn't miss the red pizza sauce. The arugula, goat cheese flatbread gave us enough for leftovers.
One thing I have read in other reviews is a immature wait staff. Our waitress was fine, if not a little pushy. She closed out our bill without asking if we wanted another glass. So we went up to the bar. She lost additional tip and a bigger ticket. At the bar we stood, almost alone at this time of night, and we ordered a couple glasses of wine with the bartender, only to have him check his phone, send messages, and then pour the glasses of wine. That's not professional.
So they have almost everything figured out, and maybe with some more time and direction they will work out the kinks. We hope to have Sapphire around for a while.
