I have two favorite bars in Ahwatukee. This is one of them. Yes you do think you have time travelled back to the 80's when you open the door. If you are looking for upscale Gastro Pub or a fancy mixologist to dazzle you, this isn't the place for you. I am a snob. I transplanted here from Portland, OR. Home of some of the best beverage and food in the country. So when I say CK's hits the mark, you can believe me. The Slop Burger is phenomenal. Good Happy Hour, although they need to broaden their choice of apps. The beer is cold. The well drinks adequate. The staff is friendly. It still has a jukebox that plays everything from classics to contemporary. My daughter likes to play the games in back, especially the claw. There's one well loved, well used, pool table in the back near the patio.
The appeal of CK's is it's bar that could exist in "anywhere" America. It goes back to the basics of what pubs and bars once were. Ck's is that meeting place within the community. It proves that bars don't need to be complicated to be successful. Couple that with good staff, good food and a sense of familiarity, and you have a winning concept. Cheers! See you at CK's.
