| - The pros:
The gym is huge, spacious, and they offer lots of group fitness classes. The "private" women's gym is nice for those ladies who may be self conscious or who don't want to work out next to some guido. :) The ladies dressing room and such is very large and adequate (I typically go after work or early on weekends). I signed up for a 2-year membership and the contract I signed was basically pay monthly for 2 years and then only pay a one-time annual fee of $39 forevermore. Pretty sweet considering I just passed the 2 year mark!
The cons:
It is usually PACKED right after work (as are most gyms) so it makes it difficult to get on the specific equipment you may want right away. Also, I've witnessed patrons' children (age ranging from 8-12) on weight equipment, using it improperly, and staying there for a LONG time... this is a problem because A) some are visibly too young to be lifting weights, B) it makes it an uncomfortable environment for ME to have to speak to the PARENTS when it should be on the gym personnel. Last, while this isn't purely a Club Fitness problem, it does reflect poorly on them since they partner with Custom Built Personal Training. I had a WONDERFUL trainer at one time (James) and because of him and his excellent workout plan and demeanor, I purchased another $1000+ worth of personal training. James alluded to some disagreements about his employment and path with the company and as a result he wound up leaving. I then bounced around 3 different trainers. One of them was only available 2 or 3 days a week. One left within a month of James. Another was good but then I had a problem with my schedule and his schedule was so jam-packed (I was booking over a month in advance) and couldn't make it for a while and I lost all the remaining visits. It just seems CBPT couldn't keep good trainers on staff, which made it difficult to stick with it... it's hard when you get used to one person's style and then flip script. It left a bad taste in my mouth and for the cost of all involved, I won't be going back to the personal trainers, just the gym.
