Had a very unfortunate experience yesterday evening for the opening night of "a quiet place."
I had purchased two tickets online ahead of time and after arriving and having the tickets scanned- found people already in our seats. Looking again at the tickets I had realized they were for the next day.
I looked again at the website and there was definitely an issue on there end- the website was still showing seats available for purchase but the theater said they were sold out?
As the theater filled up I went to the lobby to see what they could do.
The manager was very rude and told me there was nothing she could do and to come back tomorrow. I asked for a refund instead and she told me no. So I ask if I could get my tickets switched to any other open seats for the current showing, and she said there weren't any two seats together and showed me the screen. There were two separate open seats so I asked for those and said I would see if anyone would move? Since I couldn't get a refund or come back tomorrow I thought this would be my only option. The manager laughed and said "no ones going to move for you."
I found her comment unprofessional and extremely unhelpful. I asked to get the current seats anyway and that I would figure it out. While she transferred the tickets I asked how my previous tickets got us in the the movie and past the guy working the scanner. She said it was his first day and she would talk to him.
Honestly it seemed like bad management to have someone on their first day working a busy Friday night.
After the ticket swap I nicely asked two couples to move down a seat so my partner and I could sit together and it all worked out just fine. No help from the manager whatsoever.
I feel like there should be a better way to handle the situation i.e better customer service and/or refunds.
