  • Gaudin Ford Parts & Service: Compliance over Commitment Few things start an early Monday morning like a visit to Gaudin Ford for their touted "quick" oil change where even if you're 4th in line you're quoted 90-minutes. If that timeline wasn't enough to make your day, then just stroll inside behind your service consultant where he inexplicably hands you off to a coquettish female employee who immediately questions the mileage on your work order. "I need to check with you cuz that must be a typo, cuz those miles seem really high, so you must like drive a lot," she cooed. An indirect insult that I took without a word. She seemed to imply that I should buy a new truck because mine had too many miles, but she never just came out and said it. That brief exchange concluded the sugar-coated hospitality segment of my Gaudin Ford visit. I walked over to the complimentary "guest refreshment" counter to find an urn of sludge masquerading as freshly brewed coffee. No problem, I'll get a soda instead. Sorry, the ice machine doesn't work and the machine dispensed warm soda. Just when you think the Gaudin Ford service experience couldn't get any better, walk around the corner to the parts department where you'll see several parts reps lined up like birds on a wire behind the counter as they stare you down like you're a meth addict casing a convenience store. Not one of them greets you, no one smiles, not a single word. The female parts cashier cast the same ugly scowl. What miserable people. If Gaudin Ford is really that bad, find a new job and stop ruining my morning with your lousy attitudes. It's abundantly clear that the employees of Gaudin Ford aren't committed, they just comply to keep their jobs. To be fair, I didn't speak to any sales or service center employees because they were posing and pretending to be working. Think of that, the only personnel you see are those angry parts department people. They are the face of Gaudin Ford, the only employees that service department clients ever see, no one else. How sorry is that? April of 2017 marked my last service visit to Gaudin Ford. Just a week before that visit I'd had my front brake pads replaced during an out of state trip. The rear brake pads were very worn too but I didn't have them replaced out of state because I had planned to return and test my "truthfulness gauge" with the Gaudin Ford service department. It came as no real surprise when the service advisor warned me that both the front and rear brake pads needed to be replaced. Really, is that so? Take that scam pitch I just shared as a "buyer beware" notification to question everything at Gaudin Ford. Why am I back here if it's such a bad experience? 2 reasons: First, Gaudin is conveniently close. Second, the Ford dealership devil you know is far better than the Ford dealership devil you don't. During this most recent visit, my service representative claimed to have found an "engine oil leak." When questioned about precisely when during the service the alleged leak was found he couldn't provide an answer. Was it before or after my unnecessary oil change? When asked whether it was possible that the leak was from the vehicle on the rack before my truck, he backpedaled with no valid response. Inasmuch, I find the leak conclusion highly suspect. I really didn't think they'd try to scam me twice in two consecutive visits but they apparently have a lot of nerve. They're also well-schooled at padding service evaluations. As far as their truthfulness is concerned, I've given you the evidence, you be the judge. Oh, I forgot to mention that I had the oil changed the day before my visit by a close friend who was once a certified Ford technician and he didn't find any mysterious engine oil leaks. In case you were wondering, no, I don't work for a competitor.
