Fran's is what you want a local restaurant to be. It's a small location with a very comfortable feel. It's casual but not lazy. The staff and owner are ultra friendly and work really hard. There is nothing fancy about the decor, tables, chairs but it works. You want to join in.
Let's get to what matters . . . the food.
I love their food. It is an interesting blend of simple, comfort food and yet there's a touch of upscale too. Everything tastes amazing and makes you want more which is a problem because the helpings are generous so I usually leave reconsidering my diet that I keep putting off. I should give a shout out to one of their appetizers, the bacon wrapped tater tot. That's right, you read that correctly, tots wrapped in bacon on a skewer. No more needs to be said.
If I'm trying to find a negative it might be those wanting what Fran's is not. The bar is pretty simple with a limited wine selection. My wife loves their flavored martinis and they offer some fun beer so there are choices. This is not a place to go for a crazy Friday night nor is it a five star restaurant. I'm glad it's not. It's not trying to be all things to all people. It has stayed true to itself.
This is the restaurant Charlotte needs. It's not a chain and it's not over priced. This is a great place for friends to gather and enjoy wonderful evening of food, conversation and fun.
