As many have said, the ramen here is good although far from authentic. I lived in Tokyo for many years and within that time I had a lot of ramen of varying quality. Kenzo wasn't bad all things considered and what I ordered there would rate 3 stars in Tokyo and possibly 4 stars in Toronto based on the lack of good ramen. However Kenzo loses points for the total lack of service.
The table I had been seated at had not been wiped down after the previous customer had left. There was no greeting or preamble from the server, he just took my order.
While my ramen and gyoza arrived reasonably quickly, at no time did the server check on my order once it had been served.
The noodles were slightly chewy yet still firm, the soup wasn't too salty but could have used some garlic to cut through the fat and the char-siu was tender and juicy. The gyoza were nice and crispy on the bottom but the sauce served with them was strangely sweet. It could have benefited from some hot chili oil. Overall the food was good.
Once finished, I waited patiently for 10 minutes for the server to remove my dishes and offer anything else. At no point did either arrive even though he cleared the dishes from the table next to mine and gave them their bill when I had obviously finished my meal. It wasn't as if he was busy or anything as there was maybe only 2-3 other tables there.
I will be willing to go back there in future as it's the only place in this city where I can get some decent tonkotsu ramen when the next craving hits.
