I've taken my dog here several times in the past for short stays and everything went smoothly. Unfortunately this last time our dog stayed for his longest period, an entire week, over Christmas break. After developing a terrible eye infection while there, the kennel did nothing to address it or notify me before I arrived and when asked they said they 'didn't notice anything wrong'. Thankfully the vet they are associated with was able to fit us in as a comped visit. Afterward the vet tried to charge $150 for medication, which I kindly informed them to charge to the kennel for negligence of my animal and they did. My dog has now been in an E-collar (cone of shame) for over 10 days and his eye is still not fully healed. Upon the end of my vet visit, both the receptionists at the vet and kennel assured me the kennel manager would call to follow up and that never happened. My dog also came home with ticks on in his bedding...yuck! Thankfully I treat him with frontline so they didn't end up on my dog!!! So his bedding had to be replaced. Another issue was his bathing. I told 4 different staff members I would pick up my dog at 7:30a sharp on his pickup day so please bath him the night before or first thing in the morning. Called ten minutes before pickup, my dog was still not bathed. Again, they comped his bath. I also asked that photos of my animal be texted during his stay. That never happened. Called to ask about it and they said they'd 'send a photo straight away'. That never happened. I know holiday season is busy and I'm sure it was a case of too many animals, not enough staff. We won't be back to this kennel as they REALLY need to pay better attention to an animal's welfare all the time.
Update: Deon-the manager of the kennel-followed up with my this morning and was very apologetic and accommodating and providing much better customer service than previously experienced at my dog's last visit. Thank you.
