Ice Box Canyon is so beautiful. If you love the desert, you will find peace here. It is usually not at all crowded and you may pass another hiker once or twice, but over all you will be to yourself and that is what you want.
It is silent. Listen to the silence and wait for a bird to fly bye, it will be as if you actually heard a bird for the first time.
Hiking here is just great, it is in the middle of the canyon, which is filled with colored rocks and even greenery here and there.
Go early in the morning or in the later afternoon. In the middle of the summer it is unbearably hot, at least for me. Take water, even if you plan on walking 10 minutes and coming back.
There is something special about the desert and for some it takes time to really understand the beauty of it all. It is a zen like experience. Don't rush, if you are limited on time, go another time when you can just enjoy and forget about the rest of the world for just a bit.
On the way out in your car, play your favorite music and remember the desert let you out.
