  • The SGC is about a 50 minute drive for me from Maricopa, AZ. I've been a member here for five years and will continue. I read several of the lower ranking reviews. The rules at this gun club are simple, members have priority for a shooting lane over others who are not a member. Since many ranges also follow this policy, I see it as no problem. Yes, before I became a member I had to wait three hours during the Christmas high use time. I was checking out many ranges and wanted to give SGC a fair chance at getting my business. TIP: If you're not a member, visit this range during the week as it's less crowded. For me, I've found this to be one of the safest ranges around. If they don't know you, you are watched! I've seen some shooters do really unsafe actions but a Range Official was right on the problem. The policy is simple if you violate the rules, you are removed from the range. As for their service: to date I have purchased one HK USP in .45. When it was five years old with 10,000 rounds fired, it developed a chambering issue. SGC sent this .45 to HK for service twice. During the past five years, I purchased 5 HK handguns, one HK AR and a few other weapons. If the level of service that I received was less, I wouldn't have purchased these weapons there. Their air exchange system is usually great. HOWEVER during the Christmas Season with machine gun packages sold, the air quality can and does fall. I do not know of an air system that can handle two belt fed M-60 machine guns + other assorted machine guns firing within the same time and area. Other than those times, all is great. The targets are mounted to a cardboard backing as they can be programmed to turn. That is fun! You set it up to turn at you for a few seconds, fire and then it turns away. This helps to improve your aim and firing time. Once this current gun issue has become history, things will get better. Currently ammo is in short supply for those who failed to see the issue coming--one box for in house range use only. In short, I highly recommend the Scottsdale Gun Club to all!
