| - SW treats you like royalty.
Upon check-in I asked for seating with a view of their waterfall, within less than a minute they had prepared side by side seating with an unblocked view of it. (++)
Service was astounding for the most part. Our actual server had a little grumpiness with him, but it didn't affect the wait or availability of the restaurant unknowns, so eh who cares. Our bus boy was the friendliest, he made you feel comfortable, just sit back and relax, he'll take care of things. (+)
Drinks- The ingredients are what separates these from other variations of the same drink. Details matter here, including the way in which you get intoxicated
Ultimate Margarita: Felt double shot, a cheery sipper. (+)
Mango Paloma: The best. You could easily taste the alcohol but the flavors beneath it soothed it out so well. (++)
Starters
Chopped Salad: Everything was fresh but they over did it with the dijon vinaigrette. It tasted like it had been washed in it. It wasn't ruined, but it made it stand out in the wrong way.
Grilled Octopus: I had a terrible version of it at The Lark (Santa Barbara) and so I was worried so much about it that I had to ask if it would actually taste like Octopus. He looked at me like I was crazy, but if he only knew. Anyways, yes this is what I expect when I order grilled octopus, lightly grilled taking out the deep oceanic taste, but leaving enough taste in it to savor it as a seafood dish. (+)
Steaks- both cooked to a perfect medium rare, avoid the sauces, the meat and the butter topping is enough.
9oz Filet: Tender, with a taste that stood behind what you'd hope to get from SW. Not the juices experienced from a bone-in but it matched the taste of the Mastro's. 4.25/5
24oz Bone-In Ribeye: I ran through this like a Saharan lion. One of the best steaks I have ever had. Food perfectionist me wishes it would of had slightly and I really mean slightly less fat but for a ribeye it's probably the best that you can get. The tenderness, the juices all in the flavor of every bite. I could not be distracted away from it. 4.8/5
Sides
Creamed Corn: You must order this. A rich creamy taste that you'll have trouble shaking yourself out of.
Au Gratin Potatoes: Another one. The warmness of the potatoes and the cheeses. I am not supposed to go heavy on the dairy, but SW is where you want to go all in.
I regret to inform you that I skipped on the dessert. I REALLY wanted their funnel cake, but after all of the above I really had no room. Plus I needed an excuse to come back.
After this experience, I would put SW up against any steakhouse, not just in Vegas but in the country. If you appreciate a good steak, don't disrespect yourself by going anywhere else.
