| - Hundreds of years ago the Romans would throw the grandest parties filled with endless amounts of wine and food, in honor of Bacchus, the Roman god of agriculture and wine. They called them Bacchanals.
The Bacchanal Buffet inside Caesar's Palace absolutely lives up to its heritage when it comes to the food and the drinks.
Imagine all of the food you could possibly want to eat, and as much of it as you might want -- that's the Bacchanal Buffet. From endless amounts of meats cooked in every way possible -- prime rib, steak, pork, pork belly, bacon, chicken -- to endless crab legs to the endless sushi and sashimi to dim sum to tacos to salad to American country food to desserts to drinks. Just about everything under the sun is here, even Thai tea boba desserts.
Of course, being an all-you-can-eat buffet, you should come here hungry. Maybe starving. Skip your previous meals and then come here for a late lunch or dinner. Stay for at least an hour -- possibly two or three. Share stories with your friends or dining group, tell jokes, bring a small game if you need to -- let yourself enjoy the food and digest, and then enjoy more food and digest.
Everything here is fabulous. And if it's your first time visiting, definitely do yourself a favor and just take the grand tour by walking around the entire buffet bar until it stops. And don't forget to keep going around the corner, at least twice or thrice. Just when you thought you're coming to the end of the buffet bar, there's always that next corner. And all of the food along the bar is different from the next -- so don't think that just because you're sitting in one section, you should stay in that section's food area. Keep exploring!
The biggest downside here is the price and probably the wait. Dinner is about $80-$90 per person without any drink packages. Lunch is a little bit cheaper (around $65). But the wait...that... varies. I've heard people waiting for just 30 minutes to an hour, and then I've heard some people wait 2 to 3 hours to be seated.
Personally, I think the way to dine in Vegas is to find yourself a friend with priority line privileges (i.e. a Total Rewards Diamond Card). That way you and your entire group can skip the entire queue. Two hour line? No problem. Just go straight to the Diamond Line with your Diamond Card and suddenly your wait is 1 minute. There really just isn't another way to do Vegas sometimes. (Hey all of my Yelp friends, just let me know if we're ever in Vegas at the same time and I'm happy to swipe you to the front of the line.)
