| - Located on the promenade level of the contemporary Aria resort hotel, this newly reimagined french brasserie has all the flair of a casual street side Parisian bistro sans the French accent, of course. I made reservations for weekend brunch and strolled in at about 12:45pm to a fairly full house bustling with a variety of diners sobering up from the previous evening of debauchery I could imagine. The hostess kindly greeted me at the entrance and escorted me to the back of the restaurant where the dining tables were located. From there, I met the server who was agreeably friendly in a casual way and took my orders in a snap.
First to arrive was the king crab crepe served with a bechamel sauce. The crepe was rich, flavorful and it was served perfectly thin and not overly bulky like some crepes I've had the displeasure of experiencing in the past. I would have liked to see more lump crab in the crepe but the amount served was sufficient to maintain the integrity of the dish. The addition of the fried egg made for a beautiful marriage of flavors and textures, which had me savoring each wonderful bite. A great start to my brunch and it whet my appetite for the subsequent dishes on my brunch line up. Next up was the lobster benedict on a light and airy puffed pastry. I was mildly disappointed when I spied what appeared to be langoustines and not lobster tail chunks. It's just a matter of preference l but I feel the lump lobster would have been a more impressive accompaniment to this delightful dish but I'm sure cost played a big role in their decision to use langoustine. All in all, it was a tasty dish and I enjoyed the use of the flakey pastry, which was a refreshing departure from the traditional English muffin. The final dish to adorn our table was the duck confit waffle benedict. Served with a citrusy blood orange maltaise, rustic root vegetable hash and perfectly poached egg, this majestic brunch dish was nothing short of stunning. The duck was warm tender and beautifully balanced in flavor. Usually a confit is typically too salty for me but this preparation was just right. The light and fluffy waffle drizzled with the maltaise sauce and the heavenly poached egg added just the right amount of decadent richness to this praiseworthy dish. #eggporn galore!
Overall, service was agreeable, fairly attentive, and the food was reasonably paced. What Made me a fan was the food! I'd gladly return to enjoy more of that enticing brunch fare when I trek out to SinCity.
Until then...
Happyeats!
