| - After seeing the Man vs. Food episode, I knew I had to check this place out. Not because of it's sudden celebrity status, but because of the amazing menu that serves my favorite meal of the day- breakfast all day long...more like Breakfast, Brunch, and Brinner :-)
I know there are 2 locations in Vegas. I was told the original building is small, dark, and not so glamorous, but honestly it's all about the food with me. Since I didn't have a car, the location on the strip at Imperial Palace, that I believe opened in January, was perfect! The casino itself was not very admirable, but Hash House upstairs was bright and clean. We went on a Sunday around noon, so I was afraid that we would have to wait a while, but I don't think we waited longer than 15 minutes.
This place is not for the faint of heart, so let me start off by first saying that we were warned about the portions. Usually, I have no problems with that, but DAMN! There were four of us- the two, more experienced Hash House a Go-Goers were smart and shared the Man vs. Food favorite: Andy's Sage Fried Chicken Benedict w/ maple reduction, 2 eggs, bacon mashed potatoes & biscuit. My friend ordered the same thing, and I, of course, known to be a whore for chicken and waffles ordered Andy's Sage Fried Chicken and Bacon Waffles- NY Times favorite. Starting with the Benedict dish, it actually had a lot of my favorite things all thrown together on a plate, but in my opinion, it was a bit overwhelming with all the different flavors. The fried chicken was amazing, it had a nutty taste and texture that I enjoyed. My were waffles w/cooked bacon in between was a delightful surprise. My only gripe with that dish was they did not supply enough syrup! However, it was quite a sight to see a tower of waffles and chicken placed before me. Needless to say, none of us hardly finished. The couple with us nearly did and my friend and I each walked away stuffed with leftovers for the rest of the day!
Service was decent for being extremely busy. I had to ask twice for extra syrup, but I'm not really into the whole making a scene or letting some insignificant thing ruin my meal, so whatever, I'm patient and can wait. The prices are excellent for the portions you receive, both a good and a bad thing. The mimosas were so-so, I've had better. This is definitely a place I'd GO-GO to again to try other dishes, but thankfully they don't have any Hash Houses out here yet, otherwise I'd bust my belt!
