  • Very disappointed with our experience with this shelter. After 3 months of visiting shelters throughout the Phoenix area, we found a lovely adult male cat we were looking to adopt. During Visit #1 we were told we could pet the cat, but could not take him out of the cat condo. We asked if there was a room where we could 'get acquainted' with the cat - every shelter we have been to has this facility. How about in the back room somewhere? We were told there was no room anywhere, the cat would be stressed by the experience of coming out of it's condo, and it would probably go hide somewhere, etc. Interesting: it's ok to take cats out overnight on slumber parties to 'get acquainted' - but it would be stressed by being taken out of it's condo?! During visit #2 it was revealed that this cat gets irritable and upset if it is taken out of it's cage and subject to new situations. Understand of course, adoption is stressful. For the record - the cats we have adopted over the past 15 years have been adult, senior rescue cats who have acclimated well to new situations. 2 yrs ago we adopted a neglected senior cat who eventually came out of her shell and is now a loving, joyful part of our family. Our pets are family, never left in pet boarding facilities when we travel, and they are much loved. Sad that a beautiful cat that has been living in a glass cage for the past three months and would have had an opportunity for a permanent family and home gets to wait longer. Add to this, our business will not be contributing to this particular charity.
