I have never in my life dealt with such an incompetent, unhelpful, rude staff in my entire life.
Norman specifically was remarkably unhelpful. Refusing to answer important calls, "always busy," and some of the worst customer service I've ever had. I came in and did a wonderful tour (seems to be a trend at Elysian as far as the smoke and mirrors concept goes) and afterwards asked if I could come back and look at all of the two bedrooms available (as Norman had only circled two on my map that met all of my criteria). He looked at me and said "are you for real?! We don't have all night" as if I was some idiot who wanted to see 25 apartments. His arrogance continued throughout the entire process. With a long background in sales in customer service, I am dumb founded as to how he got this job and continues to maintain it.
Knowing my move in deadline was fast approaching they waited over 5 days with my rental application status and were too lazy to share it. I spent days calling and even showing up in hopes of just getting a response, some assistance, or begging for more information regarding the properties available. It was as if I was insane for asking what properties were available, which apartments had hard wood, or when I'd hear back for any information at all.
Norman, I'm not sure what on earth you do all day, but for someone in sales I highly recommend more decency, kindness, respect, and follow through.
They also file rental applications through rent grow. Which is fine, but my report came back with two major errors which we had instant proof were incorrect due to a clerical error at my old apartment. Instead of addressing the issue and helping us find a solution they were dead sent on humiliating me. Norman called and said "well you missed a bunch of payments there's nothing we can do." This was just false. After obtaining a copy of the report there was not one missed payment in my entire rental history, it was simply two write offs that again were incorrect and we had the documentation from both the prior apartment and the dispute report. When I tried to talk to Betty, the assistant manager, she said to me "your application was denied, there's nothing we can do, you can't live here." I said I understood that it was denied but it was an error that was proven incorrect and I had the proof. She was impossible and after much convincing on my part (which is not my job) she agreed to potentially review it.
Any professional leasing agent knows that would have taken ONE Phone call to me on their end to explain what the error was and how to get it resolved. Truly, I did not receive ONE call from them throughout the entire process.
I found some relief coming to these yelp reviews to realize that I am not the only I have never in my life dealt with such an incompetent, unhelpful, rude staff in my entire life.
I'm excited to say I will not be living there and found some INCREDIBLE apartments nearby that blow Elysian out of the water but gosh if I could help anyone avoid the horrible experience I went through I will. I hope this stops someone else from going through this horrible process.
