This place is great! Friends, food, beer, great service, easy to bike to and dogs are not just welcome, but treated as guests - this place has it all.
We were looking for a nice way to spend the evening with friends who live within a few miles of here, so we packed up our bikes and drove over to meet them. We all boarded our bikes and had a nice ride along the canal as the sun was setting.
We locked up the bikes and noticed the outdoor dog wash, and free to borrow bike locks and bike tools as you go into the patio - they have thought of everything. There are also self serve dog bowls so that your pooch can have plenty of water to stay hydrated, and free baked on site dog treats that you can help yourself to. We didn't bring the dogs with us last night, but I took a doggie bag home for them and they were appreciative.
Even thought it was close to 100 degrees last night, with the high power fans and the misters going, we were quite comfortable. The mister water dripped a bit on me and the table, but this is not fine dining with fancy clothes, this is bike in, drink a beer and enjoy some pub grub - so getting a bit damp was not a problem.
I am not a beer aficionado, but the guys with us are, and they were happy with the choices (hoppy IPA and something called a quad - both gave me bitter beer face which means my husband likes it). I had a nice cool Framboise, and a local banana and apple cider.
The bread board appetizer with meat and cheese and nuts and other goodies was great to whet our appetites for our main courses. i had a BBQ burger, ordered pink, and it came pink - perfectly done. The bacon on it was generous and had a great flavor.
My husband had the green chile tacos and he was very happy - their tacos are make your own, which is more fun than having it all done up for you.
One of our friends is going gluten free, and they have a special menu for that crowd. She was happy with her options and her shrimp tacos.
I didn't get our server's name, but she was very thin young woman with a funky hairband. She was great. Even thought the place was busy with all of the tables and the bar full, she checked in on us often without being intrusive or annoying.
The only negative is that this place is not closer to us.
