Went in as new clients (myself and family). We were evaluated and determined to need a few services. After the dental office contacted my insurance, the office told me what my portion would be and what the insurance pays. At no time did they take the opportunity to tell me they were out of network with my insurance company. We went in for services, paid the portion that they had quoted me.
My first cavity ever and had a horrible experience! The doctor never told me what she was going to do or how she would do it. Didn't explain anything other than I needed a filling. During the procedure, she never explained anything leaving me to wonder what she was doing. She and her assistant gossiped about their personal lives during the whole appointment as if I wasn't even there.
Nine months later, I'm still having problems with EXTREME sensitivity to temperature. I get food stuck in between those teeth every time I eat something. When they called to check on me the day after services I asked the doctor if I would be able to floss between those teeth because it felt tight. She told me it wouldn't be a problem. It was, so I went back to her so she could correct it and she determined she would have to redo the filling entirely! No thanks!!
I can't even eat a cold salad on that side of my mouth. They didn't bother to tell me all the issues I could possible have - including sensitivity to cold - until the cavity had been filled and they sat me up in the chair. Only then did they explain all the possible risks...while I'm still numb in the chair and they had already done everything! I've had another dentist attempt to correct the problem by filing it down a little but the problem still persists.
Then the cherry on top: I get a bill for almost $1000 from Dr. Hodges. I called to discuss the bill several times and they still never told me they were out of network. I only learned that from my insurance company after trying to get to the bottom of it.
It seems downright fraudulent to provide a written quote and care plan to a client specifically stating what the insurance will pay and what the client portion is, have the client pay said portion and then send client a bill weeks AFTER services were performed.
Sorry, but I don't recommend and never will.
