I stay at Hilton properties 200+ days a year and this sorry example of a business class hotel wouldn't even pass for a Hampton Inn. Maybe this is the standard for the CLT areas, but the only thing resembling the Double Tree brand is the cookie upon arrival.
There is clearly a moisture problem throughout as the mildew smell was in full force. The rooms haven't been updated in I don't know how long. The "chef" is a joke. You can pay the $16 for a cook to order breakfast, but if you do so, make sure you have a solid 5 minutes of extra time...it will take that long to allow all of the excess oil (the crap that Waffle House sprays from an aerosol can) to drain off into some other dish.
If you dare burden the bar tender for some food (even drinks at some times), expect to over pay for a dismal plate of crap. This wasn't a one time experience for me either...I get that everyone has a bad day, but EVERY tIme was consistently bad.
Example: it's one thing to over cook chicken tenders or to cook them in old (VERY old) oil...it's completely different to over cook tenders in old oil and still call yourself a "chef". Want to pay $24 for a $5 flak steak that's served like a ribeye? If so then this is your kind of place!!
On top of all that, you can guarantee that the fire alarm will sound AT LEAST twice a week!
You'd be better off staying at a Super 8 on Detroit's 8-Mile...at least they'll take the effort to leave the light on
