  • My boyfriend and I decided to check out the Bar Hop on a Wednesday night because we live very nearby and heard the food was fantastic and relatively gourmet for a beer house. We started with the hot olives which were tasty flavor-wise but total mush. Disappointing. I had the fish and chips because I thought the crushed ruffles and rice crispies crust was interesting, and it was great. Loved the fries and the grilled lemon that came with it. BF had the prawn cocktail (huge prawns) and the beet salad which was also good. Unfortunately, the volume of the place (cackling women to one side of us and a table that insisted on sitting on my lap each time someone wanted to leave the table to the other side) means we probably won't return anytime soon. The food was good but not as spectacular as we were led to believe. Maybe if we cared about beer more we'd be singing a different tune.
