| - Such a cute little shop with lots of fun goodies to discover!
The Cinnamon Stick has long been on my list and I finally had the chance to get over there during my holiday break. I was expecting a baking mecca, but it's a lot more varied than endless rows of sprinkles.
There are lots of specialty foods (dip mixes, hot sauces, etc.), tons of bulk candy (I found the raspberry & blackberry sprinkle-coated gumdrops that I've been searching for for years), fresh items like eggs and pre-cut cookies, and, of course, baking items like cocoa, flours, spices, and decorations.
I've found it exceedingly hard to find Dutch process cocoa in Madison, let alone and a reasonable price, and The Cinnamon Stick had me covered with several different sizes of measured out bulk bags. I was also able to grab some unsweetened natural cocoa for less than a tub of Hershey's at the grocery store.
TCS has a loyalty punch card that will earn you a free freebie after, I believe, ten purchases, and the staff I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. While checking me out the cashier made sure I had spied the black cocoa they had (what with my dual cocoa purchases) and that's something they now carry because a customer requested it.
Looking forward to continuing to explore the shop and next time I'll have to take a closer look at the spices to see if I can find something a little better than the offerings at the grocery store.
