| - I wanted to like this place, I really did. The barber himself is a very nice guy: pleasant, conversant but not overly talkative, and attentive to what I asked for in my haircut. But there were a couple big cons that really turned the experience sour.
Cons:
1) When I got home, I noticed long, left-behind strands and patches around my ears, at my forehead, and in the back of my head. I had to break out the electric clippers and fix the spots myself, which I hate doing. The edges are the MOST IMPORTANT part of a man's haircut, so it needs to be done right by a competent barber. Having to shave it myself afterwards means I will never go back to this place.
2) The chairs are apparently too high, because the barber asked me to "slide down" and slouch in the seat (so he could see my hair better to work on it, I assume), and I ended up with my butt on the edge of the seat. It was very uncomfortable sitting there for 20 minutes with my back and neck bent. I saw a lot of pictures on the walls of kids after their haircuts, so I'm thinking the chairs are probably the perfect height for a child. But for a tall adult, being asked to sit like that was uncomfortable and really unprofessional.
Pros:
1) It's rare to get a shampoo at a barber shop, but he gave me one and it was really a nice touch.
2) Warm shave of the neck at the end, also very pleasant. If only he had been so diligent around my ears, too!
3) As I described above, the guy's personality and manner as a barber is great.
In conclusion, I wanted to like it, but the two MAJOR cons above definitely mean that I won't be back, and I won't recommend this place to others.
