Overall, this is sad. First, there is a lot that's good about the show. The live orchestra is great. Songs don't seem to be lip-synched which is rare in Vegas. The lead singers are very talented. Choreography is pretty good; dancers all very talented. What really s*cks is the content. It's a loose forced series of unrelated songs that have been arbitrarily defined as "showstoppers." They're not. There are a few good songs from All That Jazz, Chicago, Chorus Line, Hello Dolly but most are really dated and many of the songs are not even well known Broadway hits, much less "showstoppers". Steve Wynn narrating during some parts of the show is a painful reminder that it's still a casino and the trailer park is just a couple blocks away. The scenery is nothing special and the orchestra seems uninspired at times. The brass section looked extra bored. The audience is full of the way over 70 crowd; we thought we'd come on nursing home night. Hands down, the worst part of the show is the costumes/ makeup. Most female performers wear wigs or extensions that are very poorly done with visible netting and lace. The women's costumes in Chorus Line are so bad it's shocking. The inexpensive thin drab gray leotard on almost every behind was either way too large or way too small. Overall, I felt bad for the performers. They're all very talented but the Book and the idea are stinkers. You cant make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t. The show should live up to its promise; it should stop.
