| - This place is really hit or miss. If you're looking for an inexpensive hair cut, go here. If you're looking for a guaranteed excellent inexpensive haircut, go elsewhere - if such a thing exists? I have seen 3 different institute students. The second time I went, Anna was fabulous. She told me she would be in the academy in May, so I tried to make an appointment with her, only to be told she was doing colour only. Ok then. Catherine was suggested to me. She was nice - I wasn't getting a particularly difficult hair cut as I really just wanted a trim and some added layers to take out the bulk. I asked her to thin it out, which she didn't do for some reason. She asked how I wanted it styled - I said blown dry, but not flat ironed (I despise how my hair looks flat ironed). She suggested diffusing my wavy hair. I didn't put a fight, but I wasn't thrilled with the idea. I have really thick hair, and part of the reason I like having it cut is so I can have someone else blow it dry. Granted, I was probably the first one finished, but I walked out with wet hair... that doesn't seem professional to me.
Also, every time I've seen an institute student, the price is a couple dollars more. Today I paid $38 including tax and tip. For that price, I'd really rather pay a bit more and at least have them listen when I ask them to blow dry my hair!
