  • I've been here a number of times for both the LUNCH TABLE D'HÔTE which is very reasonably priced and served up promptly and during the Happening Gourmand 2017 & 2018. Perfect for a business lunch! It comes with coffee/tea, entree, main and dessert (for $3 extra) all that for an average of $20! Go for it! 4/5 Talking about my most recent 2018 HG experience, I had tasted the filet mignon bacon-wrapped medallions and they were really good. Tender and juicy! This is the more pricey HG choice. My friends and I opted for the herbs and green apple salmon tartare on the HG menu and we were all disappointed. We had expected a crisp, fresh and slightly tart green apple flavor in the tartar but it ended up being quite tasteless and the bread crisps they served tasted stale. The waiter seemed unenthusiastic about the food and serving in general. AND he had poor waiting manners as he reached over other people at the table with his arm to serve instead of going beside the person being served, which was totally possible as we were sitting at a round table! He was also a bit grumpy. Despite that, service was ok. The restaurant was very quiet on a Thursday night maybe due to the weather. My friend said the salmon was very steakhouse like, whatever that meant :) and was pretty decent. I ordered the Beef Striploin NYCut and I was satisfied with the medium-well steak. It wasn't the best steak I've ever had but definitely not the worst so middle road. Dessert was Crème brûlée but was not served in ramekins as you'd expect but served in little dessert bowls--kinda weird. Taste was ok. So in conclusion, if I had to rate the lunchtime table d'hote, I wouldn't mind giving it a 4/5 but this time, the HG was just so-so for me which means 3/5 overall.
