I thought my house was a little chilly. In fact, the inspector TOLD me our house was chilly. And that there was a severe lack of insulation when we bought the house. OK, so I'll get some. Then Pres. Obama and the DOE announces the home energy credit. More motivation. Then I overhear a co-worker being satisfied with the insulation he just had installed. Alright, "now's the time", I think.
Steve is the main man of this company, I believe he said his father started it a long while back. They do cellulose fill (as opposed to the pink fiberglass or the foam insulation). My friend had insulation blown into all of the walls in his house, something I wasn't prepared to do, but he says it helps a lot. I just had my ceilings and knee walls (the tiny areas between the walls and roof in a bungalow) insulated. When Steve and his team showed up I just expected them to open the hatch to the top of the attic and blow some insulation in. Instead, they cut access panels into many of the walls I would have never thought needed insulation (they did, believe me). They crawled into spaces that likely won't be crawled into again while I live here and made sure they got everything. And when a few months later I realized there was a spot that was still melting faster than the others on my roof (causing icicles), they came back out and fixed it super quick.
I had gotten quotes from big box retailers and the companies that send you coupons in the mail for house insulation. I am very glad that I went with the small business option; I couldn't have been happier with the service from the ABC insulation team and I would highly recommend them.
