| - Honestly, somehow I had never eaten Korean food before. I'd tried kimchi, which is easy to come across because right now it seems to be trending in the food world, and I knew what bibimbap was, but somehow never actually got around to trying it sooner.
I visited Sol's with a friend who is Korean in heritage and she helped walk me through my first experience. We both decided to order the beef bibimbap and I thought it was fantastic. The flavors blend well and every ingredient seems to complement the others. In my opinion, the egg was a bit overcooked and there was kind of an overwhelming amount of bean sprouts, but these issues did not detract from the overall experience.
As others have mentioned, the one negative thing that did stand out was service. In general, our waitress was kind and attentive, but she brought us the check before my friend had even finished eating and we both got the impression that we were being ushered out. This wouldn't be so much of an issue had the restaurant been busy or experiencing a Friday dinner rush...but it wasn't.
Apart from that, I think the restaurant is very cute, the decor is trendy, and the wall paintings are really cool. My friend who is more familiar with Korean restaurants found the menu limited and the overall experience underwhelming, but I actually really enjoyed my first foray into Korean dining.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant, but unfortunately cannot compare it to other local Korean restaurants due to lack of experience.
