I called this dealership to get information on a small part that had broken in my 2013 Subaru Outback. This part being the lock that holds the sun glass holder shut in the roof console. After giving them my Vin # so they could properly identify the part they told me that I would have to order the entire console because the lock was not an individual item that could be ordered separately. They quoted me $137 for console ( List price online for this is $121). This was strike one for me as I found it wildly available elsewhere for $97. They said the whole console had to be replaced due the lock not being separate and it containing an airbag sensor so it was not user replaceable. They also quoted me $80 in labor for replacing it. Upon looking at other Subaru dealers parts website I saw the diagram for the console and noted that the lock (Part # 92184AJ020) was indeed a separate and orderable part and was only $5.84. This was strike two. So I called the Subaru Dealership in Chandler near my house, picked up the part and installed it myself in under 5 minutes in the parking lot. There was no airbag sensor in the console. Based upon this dealerships location in Scottsdale I assume they are probably ripping off a lot of people who do not take the time to compare prices elsewhere and are just trusting that this dealership has their best interest in mind. They clearly do not. I will never do business with this dishonest dealership.
