  • Its glam and glitz in a packet form, but easily digestible like Splenda. Vegas has more show than Hollywood, and here you get treated to a small-scale special effects show (brought to you by LG). Its actually a pretty neat design: an arched tunnel of aluminum scaffolding goes the length of the fremont street, and is embedded with LEDs. Then the show begins. The real show however is the slice of Americana plodding the streets on Fremont. Sure its not the new-America you see on the strip, but its real. These are people who save good money to come to Vegas. At best its the hard-workin folk. At worst its some real dregs, crackheads and generally unhealthy pensioners pissing their money away. Sad and funny simultaneously. What IS nice is that this is the first walking strip in Vegas. Mark my words, in less than 50 years all of the Strip (Las Vegas Blvd) will be more like this, with lightshows overhead, no cars to worry about and bustling crowds mixing it up. I think for that, it at once shows the past AND future of this glittering city.
