| - Hubs and I were in desperate need of a staycation and Aloft fit the bill. Surprisingly affordable considering the upscale and modern asthetic. Think Sweden, think mid-century modern, think streamlined and funky. All fit the bill.
The hotel is well located for walking to various restaurants and shops, easily accessible to other areas, such as Stonecrest and the Arboretum for more shopping and dining. The hotel itself if small but well planned. Nice bar w/a kinda retro-mod vibe. Lots of places to plug-in to get work done or waste time. Small indoor pool is clean and situated beside a welcoming courtyard. Pool table in the lobby for your enjoyment. Self-serve kitchen/cafe open 24hours w/prices as expected (ie: yogurt parfait roughly $5.)
I loved our room as I am very big on 'every place has it's thing and everything in it's place'. I snagged some mini bath products because who doesn't love Bliss products? The shower actually had great pressure and the towels, though typical small hotel towels, were not scratchy. The only two nit-picks I have are the height of the sink (super low, which is odd considering the room is not actually handicap accessible) and the bed, oy, the bed. The linens were crisp, clean and pillow soft but the mattress was god-awful. Neither of us slept well b/c both of our lumbar region was in agony. I mentioned this to the very helpful and friendly front desk staff and suggested they offer some rooms w/Tempurpedic mattresses. I previously had a firm Posturepedic and loved it, so I am assuming this bed was perhaps too soft? I don't know but we both agreed, the bed was the only drawback to this hotel.
OH! Word to the wise, if you ask for a late check-in, be sure to ask for a room upstairs. Otherwise you risk ending up off the main lobby and might here some not-so-quiet guests heading to their rooms.
