  • (Updates on Bottom) Gyms need to respect their client's emotions to the point of dollars and sense! Don't treat me all nice and stop at the buck, because that buck affects my entire life and if you TRULY cared about me, you would not take advantage of a technical mistake and steal from me! The manager Eric who works at this location is a thief and a smart ass. Smartasses are good for taking out on dates and doing you know what with. Thiefs are good for nothing. There are three main kinds of people who pay for a membership to a gym; One who pays for a membership and uses the gym, one who pays for a membership and doesn't use the gym, but has intentions of using the gym, and one who pays for a membership and doesn't use the gym, doesn't want to use the gym and wants to end their membership. I paid for one entire year and smoked way too much pot to find the energy to work out. I wanted to go to the gym but never did, so I kept paying and this gym had every right to collect my money, as I understand this was my choice. Then I moved. I moved from NV to AZ and I finally got sick of paying the 20 bucks each month and not use the gym, so I wanted to cancel my membership. They said you have to do this either by letter or in person. They also said I owed $6 for a collections charge, for I had a designated bank account set on auto-pay to take care of the gym payment and it ran out of money at a point and I had a fee of 10 dollars which I was only able to cover 4 dollars with the remaining balance in the bank account, making my balance $6 owed. So I went down to the gym in Tempe and explained what I wanted to do and I paid the $6, which by then motivated me to want to keep the membership and start going to the gym. I put more money in the account and smoked more weed and went from paying and wanting to quit, to paying and wanting to go, to paying and giving up, all in the matter of short period of time! On the central computer, Eric looked up in the system and was able to see that I called up back in August 2017, wanting to cancel my account and transfer it to AZ. Instead of doing that they charged me $39.99 for an annual fee and another $60 for the next 3 months. Then when the bank account ran out of money, they put my account in collections and kept charging me for the next 6 months at $20 a month, resulting in another collections debt, this time for $120. Short story longer, I end up moving back to NV and now I want to go back to the gym and the best Eric could do is charge me $60, instead of $120, which means Eric and his company stole $160 from me, instead of $220. Eric told me it was my fault that I didn't transfer online. I tried to do this a half a dozen times with problems and pop-ups saying I need to contact the club. I explained at least 4 different times to different employees, what was happening, but in the end, they got me! Eric kept making remarks and came out 2 or 3 times telling me I was changing my story. I then tried to explain that this happened a long time ago and I was kind of remembering along the way what specifically happened when he was reading off dates and notes from the computer going back 9 months ago. I even told him I smoke a lot of pot and my memory isn't the best it could be. Nothing from Eric. I then told him I was going to organize my thoughts and call back in a month and record the conversation and put it on Youtube to expose him being a bully. Eric then tells me that he is going to put a note in the system and not offer me customer service in the future. He fought me every step of the way, for every penny he stole from me! Update...24 hours later, I called asking for Eric's boss and he refused to give me the info. He then hangs up in my face and when I call back he tells me he is going to call the cops if I keep calling, which I do. He then tells me he has called the cops. He still wouldn't address my question. Update, Update...30 min later I got a call from an upper manager. I got my 120 refunded and now they said I can't go to the gym in any of the 8 locations. I'm thinking of making a YouTube video about this experience and how difficult it is to cancel gym memberships and how fast they are to take your money in the first place. You guys say you encourage people to do good?! Well, help me then! I want to do good! I want to work out in peace, not argue with a kid who wants to steal my energy over money that does not belong to him! Please do not pray on my weakness. I signed up for the gym to get stronger. Mentally and physically and your employee, Eric, has made me feel bad, and from the looks of comments, has a track record of bumping heads. As an employee, he is the one who should be punished, not I, the paying customer!
