  • A few weeks ago I came down to PHX for training and desperately needed a haircut. My stylist in FLG is really hard to get in to, and our schedules always conflict. I called Coiffeur's to make an appt after seeing pics and reading some of the reviews. The phone was answered by a really friendly, professional gentleman, though I can't remember his name. I explained to him about my hair, that I am Puerto Rican and have curly hair, and what my goals are. He recommended Nando, one of the owners. When I arrived for my appointment, the first thing I noticed was how clean it was. There was a person at the desk who greeted me as I checked in, she said it would be a few minutes, no worries, I was early. Though Nando was with a customer, he acknowledged me as well. I had just driven down from FLG and used the restroom- super clean too. When Nando finished with his customer he came over to formally introduce himself and Let me know it would be a few minutes as he cleaned. We chatted, he is really easy to talk to. When I got into his chair, I told him about my goals, showed him my pics, and he explained a few things to me about my hair. 1. Because my hair is curly and really does it's own thing, he wants to cut a little at first and see how it lays. 2. There is a weird piece towards the back that always curls at an odd angle, my old stylist always cut it off, at my request. Nando disagreed with that tactic stating growing it out would allow it to get some heavier, and that piece would eventually calm down. THIS IS WHAT I WANT. While it's important to let your stylist know your goals, they are the expert. I don't need an order taker. I need someone that listens to me, accesses my hair and then tell me why or why not it's plausible and maybe come up with other solutions as well. 3. When Nando was finished, he instructed me to play around with it. If I didn't like the way it looked or needed something adjusted, come in and he would take care of it. (I was going to be in town for a few days.) In between all of this, Nando and I told each other our life stories and when I left, it felt like I was saying goodbye to an old friend. This was the best experience I have ever had in a salon, and I can't wait to go back. I told my fiancĂ© about it, and we decided we will be making Saturday trips to this salon from now on. Thank you, Nando! See you soon!
