| - This Casino/restaurant has really fluctuated over time. Unfortunately it appears to have started another downward turn.
They are owned by the Station Casinos under the Wildfire brand name they use for all their smaller properties. If your a gambler, their exactly what you'd expect by a place the Stations owns. Their payouts aren't great (better than the strip, but that's about it) and their players club is very stingy with everything but two for one dining vouchers. If you like to play machines, you can probably fine somewhere better to play at. Just and FYI, they don't have a pit (almost none of the smaller casinos do anymore)
The biggest gambling attraction here is by far their abnormally large Sports Book for a Casino of their size. They have TVs everywhere tuned to sports and this is a great place if you like the Sports Book atmosphere but you don't want to deal with a bigger Casino. They are also pretty generous with their free drink tickets for sports betting.
They are also a brewery, and if you follow my reviews at all, you know I love craft beer. One of the few good things they have done recently is greatly expand their beer menu, which formerly was very limited. They finally added an IPA and a few other staples. Their beers, for the most part, are decent. They make a pretty good red and Hefeweizen, and their new Mexican style pepper beer is very good if you like that type of beer. On the other side, their brown ale shouldn't be called a brown. I actually thought they poured me a stout instead, but it ends up that's what they call a brown... The beer prices are pretty decent too, and during happy hour they are very well priced. There are far better breweries in town though, and any of the other ones in Henderson are superior if your looking for a good beer.
The main reason they have gone downhill though is their new menu. Their prices have sky rocketed and most of their meals are now $14, which is far too high for normal casino diner food. They also have some pub fare, like pizza and appetizers. They tried to upscale the menu a bit and I heard multiple complaints from regulars while I was there (one regular even said he was never eating there again). Their prices were just too high for what they were offering and no one had any good comments on it.
For our first experience with the new menu, we tried the fried green beans, the gyro and the new sriacha bacon peanut burger. The order of green beans was good, but ridiculously small for $8. The gyro wasn't very good and the pita bread it was on had been cooked so long it was crunchy. There was absolutely nothing special about the burger and as much as I love Sriracha, it didn't work here and overpowered any other flavors there. They took their old potato wedges off, which everyone loved, and their new fries are good, but not great. Also they were out of half the side dishes offered on the menu, so my wife got fries instead of the onion rings she wanted.
I thought about saying something about the gyro, but we were already using a two for one and one of the downsides here is the service is always slow. They understaff this place horribly and during sports the cocktail servers handle the food too if your sitting outside the restaurant. The servers are always very nice but there is only so much you can do when one server has a small casino floor and multiple tables to take care of.
If you come here for the food, you will probably be disappointed (two stars for food, one star for the new prices). I also wouldn't come here to gamble, with the exception of the Sports Betting. Really the sports and beer are the only reason to come here anymore, though I would try the food again with a coupon and hope it gets better.
