I'm only giving this Hospital two stars instead of one because all the staff (besides the doctor) we saw were great. I took my 11 year old son in because he gets a fever and excruciating headaches too often. Especially if he doesn't get enough sleep. His regular doctor can't find a reason why he keeps getting these so I decided to take him here since they have more equipment and might be able to run some tests our PCP couldn't.
The doctor came in with a wrinkled white coat that was torn. Not that it mattered, but his bedside manner and lack of interest in my concerns had me wondering if this was really a doctor, or did this guy just walk in off the street? I explained my sons history of fever and headaches and he said it's probably a sinus infection. I've had many sinus infections and knew that was not what my son had. He looked up at his sinuses and they looked fine. He said let's get a couple ex rays just to be sure. Two ex rays later still nothing. He said sometimes they don't show up on the ex ray. He then suggested a strep test. Again I didn't think he had strep but I'm not a doctor, so okay, let's check for strep. No strep. He then said, "well it's probably just a sinus infection. We'll prescribe some antibiotics and come back if it gets worse".
As we left we paid $700 just to be there. In the mail we received a little over a $100 bill for the strep test and a whopping $1,261.58 for two ex rays. I wouldn't be mad about the bills if the doctor took the time to really listen to my concerns and my sons symptoms, but he didn't. Nearly $2,000 for a visit where I didn't feel like my sons symptoms were really addressed is hard to stomach and frustrating. I felt like he took the lazy/ easy approach and saw a sick kid so he just throws some antibiotics at him AFTER of course running some unnecessary tests. I emailed the hospital letting them know about our visit but never received a response. Needless to say, that was our last visit to this hospital.
