  • So let me preface by saying this is not a review of the timeshare property. This is a review of my experience during the timeshare presentation I was tricked into sitting through with the promise of free show tickets and a $100 dinner voucher. The moment we walked into Circus Circus, a man in a suit asked if we wanted some free tickets and dinner. Duh, sir, doesn't everyone? He led us to a booth in the lobby where a nice woman asked what kind of shows we like. Before I knew what happened, and probably due to being exhausted from a 7 hour drive and 109 degree weather, we agreed to giving 2hrs of our time to tour the Diamond Resort, and listen to a presentation. Just so you know, by signing that slip you also give them permission to check your credit. So they know about you before you get there to the resort and know what price range to try to get you to work with for a timeshare. You also have to flash a credit card, show them your IDs, tell them how much you make.... But I digress. The next morning we hopped on a shuttle with other people and headed to the resort. We were directed to a waiting room. Showed ID again. Got some free sodas and snacks while people resembling used car salesmen came and called each couple/family. We went with another couple and were able to be called back together. We were walked into a big room with multiple tables with, well I'll call him KG, and sat at a desk with him. He asked for our owner's cards. We looked at each other confused and asked what that was. He said, "Oh you aren't owners? I only work with owners. Let me see what happened." And walks away for about 5 minutes. He came back with a sheet of paper folded in half with $200k written on it in pen. "I don't know why they gave you to me because I only work with owners and people that make $200k a year, which you don't." Great start, right? He seemed irritated and frustrated that we weren't the rich people he expected. He made small talk a bit before we went into a conference room for the presentation. The presentation was entertaining. The presenter spoke fast and loud, and was on point with his selling game. He resembled Jeremy Piven from that movie where he's a car salesman. I'm sure he made quite a few people feel like they needed a vacation all the time. He showed some slides. Threw out statistics about the resort. Fluff and puff for about 30 minutes. Then back to the desk with KG. KG started trying to push the timeshare. Asking personal questions, mocking our answers. After a few minutes I needed to excuse myself to the restroom. As I was washing my hands, my friend who was at the table with us came into the bathroom and said "He didn't want to let me use the bathroom! He said 'No sit down. Didn't you just use the bathroom?' ". He also made a comment to my husband - "Your wife has been in the bathroom for awhile now you know." Like, what? Is that even your business? That pushed my husband over the edge. He informed KG that he would never buy anything from him and that we wanted to see a manager. After my husband started to get up and leave, KG asked him to sit down and he left the room. We sat there almost 20 minutes, fuming, before yet ANOTHER salesperson came and took us to another table. Thinking she was KG's manager, we told her everything that had just happened. Turns out she was not his manager, and just was there to try to throw out one last "one time only" offer of a Sampler package. Mind you this sampler is $3500 with $400 down today for some points you can use to try the timeshare properties. Then after that you can become and owner for the low low price of ......$11,500. At least that was our offer. Other people we ended up talking to later that day all had different ownership amounts. I'm guessing this is where that credit check comes into play. Not to continue to bore the reader, I'll finish up by saying we complained to our hostess, who took us to the booth where we signed up to write a written complaint and give to the manager there. Which we did. Whether or. It they will do anything with them is beyond me. We also got a few passes for some other shows. And vouchers for free play money. So it was almost worth it. Maybe. We never did get our property tour... While the promise of show tickets and $100 toward dinner may seem like a great offer, I would highly suggest just saying no. But if you do accept, just be ready to say no A LOT, possibly be humiliated, and deal with sales folks that get really upset if they don't make a sale.
