  • There was a small glitch in our transportation arrangement the day we planned to head down to Tucson for a relaxing post-birthday weekend. Hertz was able to hook us up on Friday for a vehicle rental, a Toyota RAV4 that was completely stunning. It was the only vehicle available, and admittedly a bit costlier than I'd anticipated. But the truck drove smoothly and we rode in the Tucson like bosses. When I initially called that morning, Dee Dee informed me there were only two rentals available. David and I walked down to their location about 45 minutes later and a young woman was already there with another agent booking a vehicle--our fate rested in her hands as to which auto to which we'd have access. And that's how we ended up with a 2016 Toyota RAV4. There were some computer issues, so the process took a bit longer than usual. Then there was the spiel about how to treat a rental vehicle: Don't leave the country, no off-roading, etc... Boring, I know. But once we finally confirmed our rental, Dee Dee took us to the truck and did a walk-around, noting any nicks, dents, dings or imperfections on the body of the vehicle, we were on our way. We were even able to keep it an additional day without having to pay for Monday! Now, this vehicle handles like it's on rails. Which was quite a change from my car. After getting us safely to and from Tucson, it was with a heavy heart that I returned the R4. But I know in a pickle where I can go to rent a vehicle in the future.
