| - So we've never had any problems with the store itself or the products they sell - we enjoy taking our corgi here to stock up on food, treats, etc. Because our dog can be temperamental around other dogs, we always keep him on a tight leash when we take him here. I would think that would be required of any dog at Petco, right? Well, some guy brought his little white fluffy dog in through the front door, unleashed, and of course it came right up to ours. Knowing that my dog probably wouldn't take that too well, I scooped him up and assumed the other owner would put his dog on a leash. He didn't, and continued to parade around the store with his dog unleashed as the employees watched him and didn't do anything.
At the checkout, the cashier said "Sorry about that, but that's 'so-and-so.' We've told him to leash his dog before, but management said that because he's (some important title or something) we can't talk to him anymore and he's allowed to do what he wants." Um, what? That's a lawsuit waiting to happen if that dog attacks or bites somebody or some dog.
As this conversation was occurring, the gentleman with the unleashed dog walked by and began to again approach my dog. Since the employee wouldn't speak up, I said to the owner "Hey, maybe you should leash your dog." His reply: "Oh yeah, I've got the leash but my hands are full right now" and he walked out.
We like Petco. We'll be back with our dog to buy more stuff, but please speak up to pet owners who walk around the store with unleashed pets (regardless of their "title," "name," or "status").
