| - There ARE good Plato's Closet stores...but THIS is NOT one of them. This place feels like a serious hole in the wall, over-stuffed, claustrophobic, poor lighting, I-better-bring-my-Lysol-spray & wipes, type of store. And although that freaks me out, it wouldn't necessarily stop me from going to this location to find some treasures for good prices. But what DOES stop me from going to this particular Plato's Closet is the staff of girls that work there. EVERY single time I go there (hoping that the last time maybe they were ALL just having a bad day...or maybe there would be different people working), it doesn't matter WHO is working, they've all been serious brats.
This has been so consistent that it is unsettling and I'm happy to write a review about it. EACH time I have been there, I overhear them (loud and clear) behind the counter or to each other as they put away clothes, complaining about work, talking about the sales quota for the day and if its been met, or who bought what or spent how much money, or when they are going to close, and how stressed out and apparently burdened by their job they are. Not only was having to overhear the staff constantly talking this way with customers around both totally annoying and sucking the life out of me, but it is extremely unprofessional and I can guarantee you that no store-owner would EVER want to know that they have employees who act like that and also speak so frankly about sales quotas and sales goals for the day out in the open.
The girls have always been in the mode where they are so freaking stressed out and hate their jobs, that they consequently treat every customer poorly. I watched in awe as other customers were brushed off, given dirty looks, and sassed off to...and I have received the same treatment as well. They seem to have no idea how ugly they all look when they are running around being rude and unprofessional because they are so self absorbed with their "high stress work load".
If all the bratty biznatchy girls that work there were replaced with decent and trained staff who used commonsense...then I would actually go back there.
And please note that NOT a review written because they only bought two things from my 5 crates of clean and mostly unworn and name brand clothes and purses (and I kid you not, two of the THE most unappealing clothing items that I had in those crates were what they chose??....when I left the store, a girl shopping in Plato's came out and bought a purse from me right out of my crates for 10 dollars [SORRY PLATOS THAT 90% OF THE TIME YOUR EMPLOYEES SUCK AT PICKING ITEMS FROM THE PILES THAT PEOPLE BRING IN...but they are sure to load the store with random Wal-Mart, noname, and target brand clothes amongst other things]), nor is it a review based off of knowing someone who works there (because I don't know any of those people at all), nor was there some total fluke occurrence where some employee was rude and I'm just 'trying to get back at them'.
After my 5th time there, and repeatedly having the same experience with the staff...watching them treat customers like they are a nuisance or annoying or a waste of time....being treated the same way myself....overhearing them talk to each other like loud teenagers at McDonalds for the first time without their parents, chatting it up about who's dating who and their personal life, openly discussing private work/financial related information, and complaining openly about 'how much work they have to do'.......this in addition to the dark, dreary and overstuffed feel of the store...it is clear that THEY COULD BENEFIT FROM SOME MAJOR CHANGES.
