| - So after trying probably the worst "so-called soul food" restaurant, we didn't want to waste anymore of our time. We've been in Phoenix for a year & a half. Nothing. That changed when we went to Papa Joes. Our friends suggested that we go & we trust their judgment. So here we go.
We went in & ordered our food, sat down & waited for our number "72" to be called. Food took a little longer than anticipated but we waited. Then I heard 74, 75, 76, 77. At this point we're like wait, what's going on? The owner looked over at us and asked us what number we were & we told him. He asked the cook & apparently he forgot. Of course that was very upsetting. My husband now wanted to leave. But nonetheless, the owner was concerned & apologized. They got our food together and it came right up.
He ordered the wing dinner with Mac & cheese & peach cobbler with Pink lemonade. I had the half & half spicy & mild catfish nuggets & a sweet potato pie & grape Kool aid. Our meals, delicious. My catfish nuggets, more than amazing. Oh & the price for it all, no more than $25. We had just spent $55 for a little less food at Off Da Hook Soul Food & had the worst service & food. I didn't expect the catfish nuggets to be so big and it was a 12 piece.
We want to go back today. Definitely getting the same thing. This time I'm going with greens. The mac was good but wasn't our favorite. So the wait was definitely worth it and the food, amazingly good. Best catfish we've ever had, hands down. 5 stars is a must.
