| - This is a very small pastry shop that specializes in Daifuku (stuffed mochi). They also sell macarons and doriyaki (a bun with red bean filling) and non-alcoholic beverages.
The daifuku themselves might seem pricey at first ($2.5 a pop), but give them a taste and you'll find them worthy of such a price tag. These aren't the Asian supermarket packaged daifuku mochi that you find in the fridge aisle - the texture, softness and taste are comparable to the ones I have tried in Japan.
During my visit, there were quite a few flavours to choose from: Cream, strawberry, mango, matcha, hojicha, sesame and chestnut. I tried the sesame and matcha ones. The matcha daifuku has a matcha cream filling with red bean paste; whereas the sesame daifuku has a white cream filling with black sesame paste. Both are very delicious and the flavour/texture combination is amazing. I love the fact that they are not overly sweet, which the cheap supermarket mochis tend to be.
I have no trouble believing this place is as good as daifukus goes in Toronto, short of a visit to Japan. However I would like to see some improvements in the establishment itself. It is quite small and geared more towards "grab-and-go". There are 3 small tables inside but the vibe isn't really that great to stay long (I don't think there were music playing, so it felt uncomfortable). The decor also leaves something to be desired and I think they can improve it.
All in all, I would highly recommend the daifukus here
