| - I wish I could give this place a better review. We went here for our wedding anniversary. I've been dying to try it for some time now.
I want to start out by saying that the food is exceptional. The place was clean and orderly, and the prices were reasonable.
I wish I could end the review right here, but alas, that is not the case.
After opening the doors late, we were seated and asked what we wanted to drink. It took about 20 minutes for them to come to the table and drop off a pitcher of iced tea. I don't mind pouring myself, but just a pitcher of iced tea and a pitcher of water, seems kind of hinkey.
Next, we ordered the Perogie app, and we were told that it was better to order the app from the buffet, because you get two more, reluctantly we did this. The issue is, they didn't bother to explain how the buffet works, they didn't both to tell us where to get plates, and they didn't bother to tell us that the buffet only had 3 kinds, unlike the menu.
I asked the waiter his advice, because I was torn between the authentic Scandinavian dish of pickled herring or the more traditional hunters stew. In a shocking moment, he told us that the pickled herring was nasty and "ethnic". Yeah, I'm not sure what that means either.
Again, the food was exceptional, so no complaints there, but service was super slow and the place was not full.... they have a weird policy of charging less for food if you pay in cash, each dish has two prices next to it, one for cash customers and one for credit customers. It's freakin' 2018, are we really being penalized for using our debit cards? WHY?
To make matters worse, I ordered a take out portion of stew. The waiter, and I use this title loosely, dropped off the container, and much to my surprise it was only a salad. Was this a subtle hint that my fata$$ should go to the gym? I'm not sure... but after asking, twice, I did receive my food. Finally, the nice old lady came to our table with her tablet and we paid right at the table. No biggie, except she told us 3x that she was looking for new waitstaff because "these people are lazy and refuse to clean".... Ummmm we just ate here!
It just wasn't a great experience, at all.
