The Metro at Bloor and Walmer is one of the most over-priced grocery stores I've shopped at. Ever since it ceased to be Dominion and underwent a cosmetic reno to become Metro the prices have increase incrementally on what feels like a weekly basis. Now, I know that we're paying for convenience, but come on now! If, as Nick A. states, you can get to Chinatown or Kensington you definitely should because the produce is better and cheaper and you're supporting more local businesses.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the good things that Metro has to offer, though. 1) an often-on-sale selection of Arthur's smoothies. 2) pretty cheap loaves of Rudolph's Light Rye Bread with organic flour (which may be gone now, but I'm holding out hope). 3) the ability to do any type of shopping 24 hours a day right around the corner. 4) the staff! Oh man, these people are great. Sometimes you'll run into a gruff or grumpy one and they don't tend to know much about their products or even where they are in the store, but these people are pretty awesarific. Especially the midnight staff: mostly nice, often times strange, go in late and you'll see what I mean.
