| - This is a really hard review to write because three stars feels like too much and two stars feels like too little. We were there on Friday November 20th at 730pm. The comedy, headlined by Charlie Murphy, was hilarious. The food (especially the fried shrimp) was mostly great - with the single exception explained below. The mixed drinks were tasty.
So here are the problems:
* Our server, Alex, was flat rude to the tables beside us, because they weren't his tables. It was really obvious he didn't want to help them, and while he was marginally (and I can't stress "marginally" enough) nicer to my girlfriend and me... It's just one of those things that sits really poorly
* Despite ordering before the tables on either side of us, our drinks and food came out slower. Maybe our server was busier than theirs, but it's hard to give somebody the benefit of the doubt when they aren't a pleasant person
* I had to ask multiple times for water
* We had to ask a different server for extra salad dressing, as the chicken Caesar salad was incredibly dry... And we'd already asked our server, to no avail. Asking another server? Out almost immediately. The food runner was also great about bringing us ketchup and things in a timely fashion
* I understand a two drink minimum if that's all you're getting. But between two people we ordered two mixed drinks, an appetizer, an entree salad and a hamburger. And yet they charged my girlfriend for refills of iced tea... A fact that wasn't made clear until our check showed up. I can hear the rebuttal of "buyer beware," and maybe it's on the menu somewhere. But besides the fact the it was dark enough that we had to use our cell phones to look at the menu, there are comedy clubs in the valley that don't have drink minimums... And when we're buying food, it seems in real poor taste to run up the tab on ice tea
We love stand up comedy. We might be back. We might not. There are other options, but honestly it'll depend on whether there's a comedian we want to see. We've been here before and always enjoyed it completely. But this time, we had a bad experience and that will unfortunately leave a lasting impression.
