I went to get my nails done there as soon as they opened today and inquired about being able to redeem a gift certificate without having it with me. My husband purchased it as a Mother's Day gift but I misplaced it somewhere at home.
They said no, something about people coming in claiming its lost when they don't have one. In my opinion, I find it more likely that a customer actually lost their gift receipt than someone coming in pretending they had one, but whatever.
I stayed and got my nails done anyway. A gentleman worked on my mani/pedi and everything was going fine until he had trouble with a clumpy top coat bottle and tried to thin it down with acetone. One of the other employees engaged in a conversation with him in another language and they switched back and forth from that to English so what I gathered was that she wanted him to grab a different bottle and he was trying to tell her it's fine, he has it under control.
It got more awkward when the same lady walked up to him to show him a picture of a nail job that was apparently done poorly by him on another customer to which he denied working on. There was an argument about that for a bit and when it was over she made a comment to me trying to laugh it up, something like, "ha he doesn't remember." Super awkward! And unprofessional.
So for those two reasons (not redeeming a lost certificate and having what should have been private conversations away from the customer), I will not be returning there again. Unless I find my gift certificate, I'll go in since the money was spent already, but not again.
